Mark Gilbert is a representational painter working in oils and watercolours. He lives in West Sussex and Scotland.
Much of his work is generated during his travels when he works with watercolours sketches and drawings. Shown here are paintings created from his recent travels, in particular to Ecuador, South Africa, France and Malta. His last exhibition in London had an Indian theme and proved very popular - some Indian pictures are included also.
The Isle of Skye, off the West coast of Scotland where he has a studio, is a constant inspiration with it's dramatic scenery, changing light and unpredictable weather. These landscapes are strongly influenced by the Scottish colourists.
He is also working on a series of small still life paintings of everyday familiar 'iconic' British products. Four of these are shown here.
